In a cheap motel an hour from Cape Canaveral, Janet Drummond takes her medication, and does a rapid tally of the whereabouts of her children. Wade has spent the night in jail; suicidal Bryan is due to arrive at any moment with his vowel-free girlfriend, Shw; and then there is Sarah, ‘a bolt of lightning frozen in midflash’ — here in Orlando to be the star of Friday’s shuttle mission. With Janet’s ex-husband and his trophy wife also in town, Janet spends a moment contemplating her family, and where it all went wrong. Or did it?

Très déçue de ce livre, qui était pourtant petit … Et bien je n’ai pas pu le finir. Des personnages caricaturaux, des situations improbables et surtout je n’ai pas su m’intéresser à l’histoire ni aux différents personnages, c’est vraiment un récit très particulier auquel je n’ai pas adhéré malheureusement.

J’ai trouvé l’ambiance vraiment étrange, un peu glauque, malgré des touches d’humour. Là aussi un humour assez piquant, il faut aimer le genre.

La 4eme de couverture indiquait « Ce livre vous fera appeler votre propre famille psychotique pour lui dire à quel point vous l’aimez » et bien non, pas pour moi, ça m’a juste donné envie de refermer le livre et de passer quelque chose qui m’intéressait un peu plus.
